completing masters program in reading and ESOL
I have a Bachelor's of Science from Pace University and a Master's Degree from Manhattanville College. I hold New York Certification in early childhood (Birth-2nd) and childhood education (1-6). In addition, I hold students with disability certification (Birth-2nd) and (1-6).
My experience includes NYS learning standards, differentiated instruction, special education (inclusion, self contained and community based classrooms), ESOL, and the supervision of children. I have knowledge of Alternate Assessments and Individualized Education Programs. I am skilled at classroom management, teamwork, and guidance. I have also done extensive volunteer work in classrooms and was the head of an elementary school newspaper. I can effectively motivate students to learn by using manipulative materials, incorporating cooperative learning, and integrating technology into teaching.
I am trained at assessing and adapting to the students learning styles and teaching children to strive to be their best. I’m also knowledgeable in brain based learning and differentiated instruction. I assess and create a unique program that is best for the student so they can succeed. I have Orton-Gillingham training and incorporate multi-sensory learning with my teaching of reading.
I am the mother of three children and two children with learning differences. I understand the special challenges that face unique learners and strive to have them be their best academically.
I can help students from age five and beyond with their learning needs.
